Council Member Inez E. Dickens Honored at Coalition Star Brunch
On July 29th, 2009, the NYC Coalition For A Smoke Free City hosted a Star Brunch to celebrate the last five years of hard work and success. Dedicated community leaders were recognized at the event including Council Member Inez E. Dickens who was honored for spearheading a smoke free hospital campus bill in New York City. Also honored at the event were retailers who signed policies over the last year committing to reduce, remove, and/or rearrange tobacco advertisements in their stores. Guest speakers at the event included Sarah Perl, Assistant Commissioner of the NYC DOHMH Bureau of Tobacco Control, and Marie, the Bronx resident featured in recent NYC anti-smoking PSAs. Community Star Awards were also presented to recognize the exceptional dedication of Coalition volunteers who went above and beyond the call of duty:
