Quit Smoking Today!

If you are a smoker, quitting smoking is the single most important thing that you can do to improve your health and wellbeing.  The good news is, it is never too late to stop smoking!

The health problems that are caused by smoking are extensive.  Not only is it associated with an increased risk of death from lung cancer but it is largely attributed to heart disease as well.  In addition, smoking is not only detrimental to the health of the smoker, but anyone who is exposed to the secondhand smoke.  In the most recent U.S. Surgeon General's reports, we learn that there is NO SAFE level of exposure to secondhand smoke.  Thus, it is critical that we quit smoking or work with those we love to help them kick the habit.

Now for the hard part - it is a fact that quitting smoking is very difficult.  This is largely in part because smoking is highly addictive due to the mixture of chemical compounds in cigarettes.  It takes the average smoker 8-10 attempts to quit successfully.  Luckily, New York has some great resources to help make it a little easier.
